Hello, thanks for stopping by. Need to take the weight off your feet for a bit and have a rest? If I were you, I'd get the kettle on and take 5. I feel a bit like that too, been struggling to shake off a nasty cold for the last three weeks, if only I had something to sit on......
The Upcycling Bit
We've dipped our toes into the thrilling world of auctions and have been to a couple of local ones to gather stock for upcycling. It really is another world and we saw many of the same people at both auctions, quite a community of raggle taggle dealers, some friendly, some shady. There were over 500 Lots at each sale and so there was plenty of hanging around time, or people watching time. Seemed like I was the only one interested in old stools though and managed to bag a few bargins. I won't tell you exactly how much I paid, that would just be rude but needless to say I hope to turn a little profit, after all, besides all the fun I'm having doing it, I need to supplement my part-time wages with this project. Oooh the thrill of bubbly excitement as it came round to my turn to bid, this could be addictive.
Back at base, I've been honing my skills with the chalk paint. I've bought some of the expensive stuff (Annie Sloan) which is easy to work with but I hear you can make your own with plaster of Paris and I'm searching out a recipe to try that once supplies run low. Anyone out there know of a tried and tested recipe who's willing to share it? Some stools are topped with crochet and others with vintage fabric. I love the whole creative process of turning something old and worn out into something beautiful again. Do you ever feel feel like you need a bit if that rejeuventating process when you've got a yukky cold? I do, eurk.
The Knitting & Crochet Classes Bit
Monday afternoon crochet classes at The Red Brick Building, Glastonbury got off to a flying start last week and there are now three new starters out there who are completely hooked. As a result of doing these, I've been approached to run classes at The Swan in Wedmore which is very exciting. I'll be doing these on a Tuesday afternoon starting 26th May
2-3pm absolute beginners, book a space, max of 4 people, £10
3-4.30pm open sessions for the more experienced crafters £5
