They say one door closes and another one opens and I'm beginning to think that's true. Sadly, I've had to cancel the knitting & crochet group at The Swan, Wedmore as the increased overheads to hire the space made it unviable. But fear not, I am working on Plan B which involves running a group at The Swan, Wells starting in September. Watch this space for further details.
The auction house was happy to see me this month I think. I'd been to the viewing the night before, carefully selected a few items I thought I'd be able to sell on and decided to go back the next day to bid. I was lucky on a couple of things but missed out on others which went above my limit, very sensible so far. I then made the mistake of an impulse bid. I'd noticed a couple of Pouffes and I made a bid little realising there were in fact seven of them! Of course, once your bid is accepted you have to take the whole lot. Luckily I managed to squish them all in the car and then spent the journey home wondering what the hell I was going to do with them all.
The old leatherette one had been re-stuffed by someone and it was fun disemboweling it to see what treasures lay inside. Some scrunched up pages of News of The World from 1994 (class), some horrible crimplene clothes of a small boy (more class and a tad worrying) and a red Candlewick bedspread (bingo). The bedspread is fine now I've laundered it and someone who's into vintage, will love it. The pouffe itself is probably collectable too and I'm just waiting for the right 1960s lover to come along and snap it up!
Thank goodness for our local Buy, Sell, Swap page on Facebook. I've managed to sell a few of the others on. I've also upcycled one with a giant crochet cover and it's now in my Etsy shop. It's great working with TShirt yarn and a massive crochet hook, a bit like being transported to Lilliput. The rest of my stash is sitting in the garage waiting but it's a satisfying feeling having projects lined up.

It's school Summer holidays in England now and the weather is being reasonably kind to us. Lots of lovely picnics and outings with Sonnie, my Great-Niece, before she starts school in September, where did that time go?
Here he is then, our handsome chap, Walnut as he looks this year. See what I mean about the sun faded Jacket? He's happy now though because he's been adorned with some crochet flowers in his button hole and in his wellies. Mind you, I'm not sure what's happening to his head, he seems to have some sort of swelling around his cheek. Maybe a little family of mice have moved in. Maybe next year, it's time for a new head!
Bye for now, enjoy the Summer!
