I have just finished my second ripple blanket. Well I think it's finished, it's big enough to cover two of us snuggled up on the sofa. Never say never I suppose as I still have some wool left. Looking back through my Instagram photos http://ink361.com/app/users/ig-456718554/kim_woods_yarns/photos, I started this back in the Summer. Do you remember those lovely long warm sunny days we had in the Summer of 2014?......sigh.
There are lots of patterns and tutorials online already for this design so I won't try to reinvent the wheel but I will just say the most important bit is the foundation row. Getting the right number of chain and counting your stitches at the beginning is crucial for this pattern to work.
It's something I've been picking up in between other projects. It's my meditation & relaxation blanket. Counting the stitches and the rhythmic movement of the crochet are pretty Zen.
I haven't been sewing the ends in as I go (eek) and so today I had the mammoth task of sewing them all in. Or, I had an Ood to exterminate. | |
It seems I may have been a bit premature hanging up my Housing Officer hat. An opportunity has come up for a part-time role, two days a week, and it would be foolish of me not to go for it. It'll give me some regular income while I get the creative woolly stuff off the ground. I've got an interview tomorrow, wish me luck! | The best bit about finishing off a blanket in the Winter is that when it all gets a bit too cold, you can wrap yourself up in it and have a coat of many colours. |
